The Quick-Seat Chair Goes To Hollywood Series – Ghostbusters 1984

Can you imagine carrying one of those heavy nuclear accelerator backpacks on your back through long corridors in the Millennium Biltmore, known as the Sedgewick Hotel in the Ghostbusters movie, where it’s obvious there isn’t one place to sit while you’re either chasing or being chased by all manner of otherworldly entities? “Who ya’ going to call?” Quick-Seat Chair, that’s who! Now imagine your old lumbar pain from that auto accident you may have had years ago-acting up? There isn’t one scene in this ghostly scamper where a tired and sore Ghostbuster can sit, for a ghost for that matter.
This is a classic cult comedy movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, if you can find one, that is. But if you can find a Quick-Seat Chair, sitting on the edge of your seat hoping you won’t get “slimed” by a green floating “Focused, Non-Terminal Repeating Phantasm or a Class 5 Full-Roaming Vapor” will still keep your safe and sturdy. Quick-Seat Chairs do float in a way, to open after you lightly touch them with toe or finger and then they “float” back up. But there is nothing vaporizing or ghostly about them. They are sturdy, fold up out of the way, closing automatically, if you need to get up quick to chase a ghost, and will hold all of your weight, including your heavy nuclear backpack.
The Ghostbusters live and work out of a turn of the century Firehouse. All in all, I’ve only been able to count about 4 chairs in any of the scenes in it and that includes the lower entrance through their garage, the offices on the second floor and their sleeping quarters on the 3rd. Ghosts don’t need to sit, but clients like Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis do need a place to sit. And so does the code enforcer who comes around to intimidate. Well-maybe HE doesn’t need to sit. But you can rest assured that they would have called for Quick-Seat Chairs if they had been invented by then.
There is not one place to sit in the large garage area which is used for parking and maintaining their vintage emergency rescue EMT vehicle, used as their refurbished Ghostbuster-mobile. Mechanics need a place to sit because their backs always give them trouble bending over car engines and being squished up under them and it’s no different for Dan Akroyd who’s the Ghostbuster mechanic as well as one of the four official Ghostbusters. Speaking of the vintage first aid rescue vehicle, it has to transport Rick Moranis, the ghostly possessed “Key Master,” who is found wandering around New York being chased by a demonic dog-like creature. Where would he sit? Our Quick-Seat Chairs have been installed in EMT vehicles, because they fit almost anywhere and only take up space when needed before ‘disappearing’ up against the vehicles walls. A real safety plus!
The Ghostbusters save the city from a complete invasion of paranormal vapors, ghosts, and other strange things. Quick-Seat Chairs could save an entire city’s people of fatigue, falls, and other safety factors along with crippling mobility pain if they were equally ubiquitous as the various scary characters in this movie.
The movie was nominated an Academy Award in 1985 for Best Visual Effects; nominated for 3 Golden Globe Awards; a BAFTA award’ and Best Fantasy Film from the 12th Saturn Awards. Who knows what other awards they would have won, if only they had put a few Quick-Seat Chairs around for that extra “touch?” No pun intended. One day Quick-Seat Chair is going to get a Hollywood star with its foot prints, which take up only 3 3/4” of floor space, along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the meantime, we’ll be that star-like ray of light to all those weary wanders needing sit along different long corridors who are so happy to find us there.
